League Placement Announced
Hinckley AFC have been placed into the Midland League First Division, at step six of the non-league system, for the club’s inaugural season in 2014-15.
The Midland Football League is a newly formed amalgamation of the old Midland Alliance and Midland Combination, with its Premier Division at step five.
Hinckley AFC chairman Gary Hancox was delighted with the placement, saying: ‘This is brilliant news for everyone at Hinckley AFC. I would like to thank everyone who has helped get our club off the ground.
‘Soon we can stand on the terraces and watch a football club representing Hinckley again. In some way, this makes up for the awful day in Chesham, back in October.
‘I can’t wait for the new season to begin.’
Manager Carl Abbott was also pleased with the outcome. He commented: ‘I’m relieved that it’s finally decided! I’m fairly impassive, really, on where we have been placed. The hope was the old Midland Alliance at step five but this is no disaster by any means.
‘We know where we are now, and we can get around the table with players knowing what the challenge is.
‘It’s exciting for everybody – the working group, the long suffering supporters, myself, my backroom team and my players. We’re all in this together now!’
It is now less than a month until Abbott’s side take to the pitch for the first time, in a pre-season friendly against Heather St John’s on Saturday, 5th July.
