Two goals in each half saw Hinckley AFC win their final home game of the season with a 4-0 success over Nuneaton Griff.
AFC enter the final week of the season with a four point cushion in the battle for second place after a comfortable win over their local rivals.
Sam Agar, Ryan Seal, Lee Thomas and Paul Sullivan all found the net as AFC rounded off their exploits at St John’s Park for the season with their 15th home league win.
Carl Abbott made just one change to the side that beat Pelsall Villa on Easter Monday, with Sean Williams returning in place of Jack Farmer.
And the visitors, off the back of four straight wins, started brightly – both Jack Colley and Harry Walker-Donovan forcing Haydn Whitcombe into a pair of smart saves early on.
But once Hinckley took the lead 14 minutes in, they never really looked like dropping points. Sam Agar latched onto Sean Williams’ through ball and coolly finished when one-on-one.
And after visiting keeper Courtney Belford denied Javia Roberts, AFC doubled their lead on 35 minutes. Williams and Agar were both involved again, this time setting up Seal as the Williams’ ball to the far post was nodded back across goal by Agar and Seal bundled home from close range.
That put Hinckley in control of the game, although Whitcombe was called into action shortly after half time with a comfortable save to deny Danny Taylor.
Hinckley then had a spell of pressure and Agar hit the post as AFC sought a third, which came through Thomas with just his second goal for the club. From the left hand corner of the box, the left back fired an angled drive across the face of goal which nestled in the far corner.
And the fourth goal came ten minutes later through Sullivan’s neat finish past Belford.
Agar and Francino Francis both went close late on as Hinckley went after further goals to add gloss to the scoreline, but Abbott’s side were comfortable in victory, with fans and players showing their mutual appreciation as the squad did a circuit at the end of the game to wrap up their home campaign.
